Starbucks in Solihull reopens after woman falls down lift shaft

Starbucks coffeehouse in Touchwood on Solihull High Street has reopened today after a woman fell around 25 feet down a lift shaft last week.

The female employee, believed to be in her 20s, suffered a suspected broken leg and pelvis in the incident on Thursday afternoon (31st March).

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council are taking the lead, rather than the Health and Safety Executive, because it is a retail premises.

They say there is no time scale for how long the investigation will last and cannot comment on what steps it will include.

A Starbucks spokesperson said: “Our store in Solihull will reopen today, Thursday 7th April.

‘We are fully cooperating with an investigation into the incident, and until this is completed, we cannot comment further.

“Our priority is to support our store partner’s recovery, as well as the rest of the store team, following this distressing incident.”
