Firefighters tackle suspected arson attack on derelict barn in Earlswood

Four fire crews attended at a fire at a derelict barn on Salter Street in Earlswood on Monday night (11th April)

The blaze, suspected to be an arson attack, was brought under control in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A spokesman for WMFS said: “It is thought the fire was started deliberately.

“Because the flames were in a building isolated from a main road, a pump was needed to relay water to the site.

“It was brought under control at 12.24 on Tuesday morning.”

60 per cent of the barn was destroyed. A car, believed to be stolen, was also burned out. No injuries were reported.
