Teenagers charged over meat cleaver street robbery

Two teenagers have been charged over an armed street robbery in Solihull during which a man was threatened with a meat cleaver.

It’s alleged the male youths – aged 16 and 17 – threatened a 64-year-old man as he walked in Manor Park Road, Castle Bromwich, just after 8pm on Tuesday.

The man was unhurt but his attackers made off with cash and a mobile phone.

Following a swift police response, two suspects were arrested less than an hour later and yesterday charged by detectives from Force CID in Solihull with robbery, possession of a bladed article and possession of an offensive weapon.

The teenagers – living in Birmingham but who cannot be named for legal reasons – were set to appear today in Birmingham Magistrates Court.
