The body of a 14-year-old boy was found on the A45 near Meriden on Mother’s Day, an inquest heard.

James Dennis Scott died from multiple injuries and his death is being treated as ‘unexplained’, the Warwickshire hearing was told.

His body was discovered in the middle of the A45 between Pickford Green and Meriden on the evening of Sunday 11th March.

The Coventry Telegraph said unconfirmed reports say that the teenager, who is from Oxford, had been at Crufts at the nearby NEC earlier that weekend.

A section of the A45 was closed for several hours as emergency services worked at the scene.

When the inquest was officially opened, it was stated that a post-mortem examination carried out showed that the cause of James’ death was multiple injuries.

However, the full circumstances into the death have not yet been established and further investigation is required.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police previously said: “Officers were called at 7.12pm on Sunday, March 11, to the A45 in Meriden.

“A body was found on the road and the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and police are appealing for anyone who saw a pedestrian in the area to come forward.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 328 of March 11.
