Cash machine torn from Spar after window smashed – with staff and shoppers inside

Brazen burglars have torn a cashpoint from a Chelmsley Wood convenience store in a late-night attack.

The crooks smashed the front window of a Spar in Brook Farm Walk before ripping the ATM from the store on Wednesday night (30 January).

Offenders then fled the shop with the cashpoint.

The alarm was raised with West Midlands Police officers shortly before 10pm – while the shop was still open with staff and shoppers inside.

An image, taken by a bypasser, captures wires and metal strewn across the ground in the aftermath of the incident.

Despite the burglary, the shop confirmed it is still open today from 6am – 11pm.

No arrests have been made and police are hunting for the burglars.
