Charlie Fogarty MBE represents Ability Counts team in Northern Ireland for George Best Community Cup

After the end of the season for Solihull Moors FC’s first team, a number of the club’s existing sponsors have come together to provide funds needed to send their open age disability team to an event in Dundonald, Northern Ireland.

Held annually, the George Best Community Cup is a five-a-side cup competition run by the Irish F.A which invites clubs that cater for players with a disability.

As leading advocates of disability football with over 75 Ability Counts players, Solihull Moors FC has been invited to take their open age disability players to compete at the tournament between the 13th and 16th June.

Charlie Fogarty MBE is set to attend as a player in the competition, which will feature teams from the likes of Everton FC and Charlton FC.

“Representing the whole of the footballing community is hugely important to us as a club” said Arthur Dawes, General Manager at Solihull Moors FC.

He continued, “Having local sponsors that were willing to step in and make this trip happen has been a big boost to the club, and to disability football as a whole in this region.

“Our open age disability team now have the chance to do something that many of them have never done before in going to play overseas. It’s an amazing opportunity, and one that none of us are likely to forget!”.

Club sponsors and now official sponsors of the Ability Counts team; creative marketing agency Jask Creative, independent financial & wealth advisors Planning Together, engineer services group ADI Group and Wadsworths Solicitors have combined to support the cause – helping the team reach their initial funding target of £9,000 for the trip.

Stuart Jordan, Managing Director of Jask Creative, said: “Speaking for all of us that support the great work happening at the Moors, we are incredibly proud to be able to help such a community-driven club. We wish the team all the best in the competition!”
