Community project spruces up corner of Chelmsley Wood

Solihull Community Housing recently joined up with Virgin Media to spruce up the garden of a local community.

The gardens of Kingsgate House have now been transformed thanks to the efforts of this project.

The horticultural project stemmed from a residents meeting where possible garden improvements were discussed. One green-fingered resident had maintained the garden over the years but things were beginning to get a little too much for him.

Officers at Solihull Community Housing got in touch with local partnership Solihull Sustain to see if there was anything that could be done to help. Sustain then contacted Virgin Media who were looking for a suitable Corporate Social Responsibility project.

Teaming up together, Virgin Media and Solihull Community Housing arranged for a complete makeover of the garden area including jet-washing paving, re-turfing grassed areas and planting new, easy to maintain, bushes and shrubs.

There were even some new benches made so that residents could sit out and enjoy the garden.

Residents of Kingsgate House are now happy to be able to enjoy their garden again.
