Investigation launched after car stolen at Dorridge Station

An investigation has been launched following two separate incidents in which a car was stolen and attempts were made to steal another car at Dorridge railway station in Solihull this month.

The first incident took place on Monday 8th October at around 4.20pm as a woman was returning to her car in the car-park. Two men approached and threatened her, demanding she hand over her car keys.

The two men then made off in the woman’s VW Golf, closely followed by a black Vauxhall Astra that the men are believed to have arrived in.

The woman was shaken but not injured.

The second incident took place on Wednesday 18th October at around 5.10pm when a man was approached by two men as he returned to his car.

They demanded he hand over his car keys but the man threw them as he ran off. The offenders retrieved the keys but left the car park without the car.

Detective Sergeant Samantha Price from force CID, said: “We have a specialist team of officers investigating these crimes and we are working hard to catch all those responsible.

“We have spoken to a number of witnesses and carried out CCTV enquiries in the area and are following a number of lines of enquiry to identify those responsible.

“We are working closely with British Transport Police to provide reassurance and have increased our patrols in the area.

“We do not underestimate the impact this type of crime has on people and we would like to reassure the victims and the public that we will leave no stone unturned to find those responsible.

“We would also ask people to be aware of their surroundings, if they see anything suspicious then please call us so we can investigate further.”

Anyone with information who haven’t spoken to police are urged to get in touch via live chat between 8am and midnight, or by calling 101 quoting log 20SH/240677V/18.
