Joining forces makes a difference

Dorridge Scout Hut is set to have a make-over thanks to kind-hearted builders from the Sainsbury’s development in the village.

Parents dropping their children off at the Arden Drive hut have had to drive and walk through potholes over the years – but now thanks to the hard work of the assistant beaver leader PC Matt Hallworth they will no longer have this issue.

PC Hallworth asked the supermarket if they would join them in a bid to smarten up the Scout Hut to deter crime and make the hut feel welcoming.

He said the group is also planning to apply to the police for funding to help with the general security of the hut and provide better lighting as the hut is in the woods and has recently had problems with youths congregating there.

He said: “It’s great to see Sainsbury’s, the Police and Scouting all working together to do something positive for the hut.

“The place will look a lot smarter once the renovations have been carried out.

“Sainsbury’s is redeveloping the area and changing the village, so it’s nice to see they are helping local people out as well as themselves.”
