Large amount of asbestos fly-tipped in Smiths Wood overnight

A local resident has contacted SU this morning (22nd August) regarding a large amount of ‘suspected’ asbestos which has been fly-tipped overnight on Lanchester Way in Smiths Wood – the police and Solihull Council have been informed.

Aaron Bradley said: “Could you please make people aware in the Smiths Wood area on Lanchester Way near to the junction of Rover Drive that someone has fly-tipped a lot of asbestos and it is a danger to the public’s health.

“It’s near to a park so no doubt kids will be in the area.

“I have messaged the local papers to try and warn people and also informed the police this morning, the police informed the council as I had seen it at 7:00am and couldn’t get through.

“It was done overnight as it was not there yesterday.

“It’s a danger to everyone in the area.”

If you you have ANY information about the fly-tippers, please contact Solihull Environmental Crime Unit on 0121 704 8000 or email: connectcc@solihull.gov.uk
