Murder investigation launched after woman found dead in Chelmsley Wood

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found dead at a property in Chelmsley Wood today (6th April).

Officers were called to Coralin Close at around 1.25am, and the 51-year-old was pronounced dead a short time after.

She had a number of injuries, and a post-mortem will take place in due course to establish the cause of death.

A 73-year-old man who was also at the address was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was taken ill at the scene and remains in hospital undergoing assessment this morning.

Det Insp Caroline Corfield, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a tragic case and our thoughts are with the family affected.

“We are treating this as an isolated domestic incident, and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.”
