Pedestrian dies after being hit by car

An 81-year-old man has sadly died after being hit by a car in Shirley at the weekend.

The pensioner was on Stratford Road, near to the junction with Stanway Road, when the collision happened on Saturday evening (16 November).

He suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital where police said he was in a serious condition.

West Midlands Police has stated today (19 November) that the man, who is from the Shirley area, had died from his injuries.

The force previously stated the driver of the car involved remained at the scene and is assisting officers with the investigation.
