Sexual predator from Chelmsley Wood jailed

A sexual predator who abused two young girls – then sexually assaulted one of his victims again 13 years later – has been jailed for more than eight years.

Kenneth Light was convicted of historical sex offences against the girls, who were between the ages of five and 10 at the time, between 1998 and 2006.

His depraved crimes were exposed after he sexually assaulted one of them again years later in 2016, when she was in her 20s, which brought back her childhood trauma.

She reported it to police and specialist officers from the force’s public protection unit were able to prove he abused her and another girl over a number of years.

Light, of Chelmsley Road, Chelmsley Wood was found guilty after a trial and the 75-year-old was jailed for eight years and eight months at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday (23 September). He was also put on the Sex Offender Register.

Detective Inspector Wes Martin said: “Light has left his victims scarred for life following his depraved crimes, not only abusing one as a child but as an adult too.

“Sadly, we believe there may have been others who have not felt able to report or re-live the crimes against them.

“We don’t underestimate how traumatic such experiences are, but we have specialist officers available to talk to, and would urge anyone who believes they have been a victim to come forward.”
