Solihull ‘bra-sket’ winner announced

Newlands Bishop Farm has won a Solihull Council competition to create the best hanging ‘bra-sket’ for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Teams from Bluebell Community Gardens, Gro-organic, Kingshurst Art Space, Newlands Bishop Farm, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Three Trees Community Centre and Solihull Council Neighbourhood Rangers, planted up bras and turned them into hanging baskets.

Councillor Karen Grinsell, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health judged the finished displays.

Newlands Bishop Farm was chosen as the winning entry and received spring flowering bulbs and a watering can donated by Solihull Wyevale Garden Centre.

Councillor Karen Grinsell, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health said: “Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women – with 1 in 8 women developing breast cancer in their lifetime.

“All of the hanging bra-sket entries were fantastic and it was really hard to choose a winner.

“We hope that these eye-catching displays have helped raise awareness for local support services and also encourage women to check themselves and attend their breast screening appointments.”
