Solihull Mayor opens new building at Blossomfield School

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Flo Nash, officially opened the newly built foundation stage building in Blossomfield Infant School on Tuesday 3rd July.

Accompanied by Head Teacher, Mrs Bernadette Farkas, and members of the school council, The Mayor was given a tour of the new building.

Whilst meeting The Mayor, children in the school talked of how much they liked the extension to the school. The Mayor said: “It was a delight to see the children’s excitement for their new classrooms.”

“I’ve never seen so many colours in a school! This is a beautiful building that the staff, pupils and community can all be proud of. The classrooms named after trees were also a lovely touch.”

That same day, Blossomfield was also celebrating its 60th birthday and the children gathered on the field to have a birthday picnic outside the new building to celebrate both occasions.

A spokesperson for SMBC said “This marked the end of the works at the school and thanks to the dedication from staff, governors and Solihull Council, this project has provided extra school places for local children to ensure that they get the best educational start that they can in a community school.”

The children ended the tour by singing songs for The Mayor as she cut the ribbon and officially opened Blossomfield’s newest addition to the school.
