Teen driver arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after serious road collision in Solihull

A teenage driver has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a collision in Solihull yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 15th November) that left two pedestrians seriously hurt.

The 18-year-old was behind the wheel of a grey Seat Ibiza at around 3.10pm when it struck a group of men walking in White House Way.

Two of the men, aged 20 and 21, suffered internal injuries and multiple fractures and remain in a serious condition, while another 19-year-old has now been discharged from hospital.

DS Jim Bennett, from Force CID, said: “The precise circumstances are still unclear but we believe the driver deliberately targeted the injured men with his vehicle.

We are at an early stage in our investigation and I’d like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, if they have not already spoken to the police, to come forward.

“The suspect is under arrest but at the moment is receiving treatment for his injuries; we will be speaking to him as soon as he is well enough.”
