Three Jimmy Spices restaurants closed with a loss of 100 jobs

A Midlands chain of buffet restaurants has closed with a loss of around 100 jobs.

Jimmy Spices on Station Road in Solihull, Lower Parade, Sutton Coldfield and Windsor Street in Stratford-upon-Avon closed on 7th March.

Owners have now confirmed the ‘all you can eat world buffets’ will not be re-opened.

Director Jaswinder Choongh said: “The restaurants have closed and will not be re-opening again.

“The two main reasons for the closure were the overheads of running such big restaurants and the emergence of cheaper imitations which have taken a larger share of the market.”

He added: “I’d like to thank customers for coming to Jimmy Spices over the years.

“We feel sorry that we have let them down.”

The Jimmy Spices restaurant group – which owns the rights to the name – was founded in Birmingham in 2006.

Each of the three restaurants to have confirmed their closure this week were operated by the Peppercorn Leisure group.

The Midlands’ original Jimmy Spices in Regency Wharf, Broad Street, is operated by the separate East & West Restaurants Midlands.

The Broad Street restaurant has not been affected by the closures and remains open.
