Thieves beat man with pole and terrorise wife in 3am break-in

Thieves battered a homeowner with a metal pole and terrorised his wife before escaping with watches and jewellery in a terrifying early-morning raid.

The raiders kicked down the front door of a house on Eden Road, Solihull, at around 3.15am on Friday, before hitting a man inside with the bar.

The gang stormed upstairs and demanded money from the homeowner’s frightened wife before grabbing watches and jewellery.

The robbers then fled in a black Seat Leon, leaving the victim, said to be in his 30s, injured.

Police and paramedics were called and the man was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.

An investigation is under way and CCTV is being reviewed. West Midlands Police appealed to anyone with information about the attack to contact officers.

A force spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating reports of a robbery at a house in Eden Road, Solihull, at 3.15am on September 13.

“It is believed a group of men kicked down the door to the property and hit the homeowner with a metal pole.

“They ran upstairs and demanded money from the homeowner’s wife, before stealing watches and jewellery and making off in a black Seat Leon.

“The man in his 30s was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries and has since been discharged.”

A spokeswoman from West Midlands Ambulance s ervice said: “We were called by police at 3.26am to Eden Road, Solihull, to reports of an assault.

“One ambulance attended and we treated and conveyed one man who had been injured to hospital for further treatment.”
