Tournament held in memory of Aoife

Elmdon Netball Club is hosting its annual tournament in memory of former teammate Aoife O’Connor, who died aged just 14 from a brain tumour.

The Solihull schoolgirl was a big part of the club, both on and off the court, and even managed to fulfil her dream of becoming coach before her tragic death in October 2012.

Selfless Aoife spent the last months of her life tirelessly fundraising for various charities, so last year her teammates organised a netball tournament to celebrate her memory and raise funds and awareness for The Brain Tumour Charity.

After the success of the 2013 Netball Festival, the club have decided to hold another charity tournament on Sunday 29th June at Lode Heath School.

Club spokeswoman Liz Bodfish said: “Aoife was a big part of Elmdon Netball Club both on and off the court and her memory remains that way too. We can’t do it without your help so get in touch if you want to take part on the day or make your donation here to play your part behind the scenes.”

Games will be held between 10.00am and 4.00pm and all teams must register their players.
