Turtle Bay planning to open new restaurant in Solihull

Turtle Bay, the Caribbean restaurant chain, has applied to Solihull Council for a licence in the town centre.

They currently have restaurants in Birmingham and Leamington Spa.

The restaurant would be housed at 36/38 Station Road in Solihull in an established area that includes Jimmy Spices, JD Wetherspoon and Shimla Pinks.

The building was previously occupied by Allied Irish Bank.

The application requests the sale of alcohol up to midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and until 1am from Thursday to Saturday.

The Turtle Bay in Birmingham City Centre opened in 2014 at John Bright Street and created 65 new jobs for the area.

Turtle Bay offers Caribbean dishes from jerk chicken to mountain curried goat and a huge cocktail menu with rum often the central ingredient.

Happy Hour – significantly longer than one hour – also offers two for one cocktails between the hours of midday and 7pm and then from 10pm until closing.

At the existing restaurants, the decor is striking with lots of bright walls, industrial piping and a deliberate type of shabbiness.
