Turtle Bay Solihull raise over £3,000 for local Marie Curie Hospice

New Caribbean restaurant and bar Turtle Bay Solihull have raised £3,100 for the local Marie Curie Hospice with their ‘Pay As You Feel’ opening day.

On Tuesday 31st May, diners were asked only to pay whatever they thought their food was worth – Turtle Bay pledged to match the total amount left by customers and donate it all to the Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull.

Marie Curie provide specialist care and vital support for people living with any terminal illness and their families.

The Marie Curie Hospice, based in Solihull, provides services for the whole of the West Midlands – it offers a modern approach to care with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The restaurant is delighted to announce that “the money left by diners, and matched by Turtle Bay, has totalled a whopping £3,100!”

This will support the local hospice right here in Solihull which provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness and their families. They have been carrying out this vital work for over 65 years and last year alone cared for over 2,000 people from the West Midlands.

The money raised by Turtle Bay on their opening day will help to support the hospice’s every day services – It costs £7,321 every day to run Solihull’s Marie Curie Hospice, which has 24 private bedrooms, all with en-suite wet rooms, piped oxygen and double doors to landscaped gardens.

Ashley Adams, Turtle Bay Solihull’s General Manager said: “We’re really delighted to be supporting a charity as vital and inspiring as Solihull’s Marie Curie Hospice ahead of opening our new restaurant – we’re honoured to be raising funds for them.

“This idea means that the better our staff do during opening day, the more we’ll raise for the Hospice!”

Lynn Wood, Head of Fundraising at Marie Curie Solihull said: “We are extremely excited and grateful that Turtle Bay has chosen the local Marie Curie hospice to support.

“We will use any donation given to us to continue to provide practical nursing care to our patients, as well as offering vital support to their families.’

Turtle Bay is open 7 days a week from 11.30am until 11.00pm Sunday to Thursday, 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday – serving delicious Caribbean cuisine and refreshing island drinks – daily happy hour is from 12pm to 7pm and then 10pm to close, when ALL cocktails are 2-4-1!
