Bishop Wilson School raised a cuppa to Macmillan Cancer Support

On Friday 30th September, Bishop Wilson C of E Primary School in Chelmsley Wood enjoyed a morning of sweet treats and cups of tea in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support – raising an impressive £1,289.23 for the charity.

Local residents, parents and staff went along to support the event as part of Macmillan’s national coffee morning. In addition to sampling the delicious cakes on offer, visitors took part in a raffle whilst being entertained by singing from children in years four and five at the school.

The event was organised by Trish Purnell, Senior Lunchtime Supervisor, it’s the 11th year that they have held it. Raffle prizes and cakes were donated by members of staff and parents of children in the school.

Glynn Purnell, Trish’s son and star chef, was also able to donate prizes including his newest cookbook.

Trish said: “I’m delighted we have been able to host one of the biggest coffee mornings in the West Midlands.

“We have had fantastic support from local businesses, residents and parents donating prizes and cakes.

“I’m thrilled that each year we manage to hold this brilliant event and each year we beat the amount raised the previous year.”
