Car crashes into wall after being hit by large branch during high winds

A car crashed into a wall after a large tree branch fell onto the vehicle during high winds in Solihull today (01/02).

The driver was travelling along St Bernards Road in Olton just before 2.45pm when the incident happened.

Two West Midlands fire crews attended the incident and cut off the roof of the car to free the victim.

The woman was said to have suffered injuries to her back and taken to Heartlands Hospital by paramedics for further treatment.

A WMFS spokesman said: “The car had gone off the roadway and collided with the boundary wall of a house after a large tree branch fell on to the roof of the vehicle.”

St Bernards Road remained closed while tree surgeons removed the tree and the Highways Agency assessed the damage.
