Gang of robbers force woman to floor and demand keys to VW Golf at Melbicks Garden Centre

A woman was forced to the floor by a gang of robbers at a local garden centre.

The victim threw the keys of her Volkswagen Golf GTI to the thugs after they carried out the assault at Melbicks Garden Centre, in Coleshill, on Monday 29th October.

Warwickshire Police confirmed they were called to the incident at around 12.45pm and is urging anything with information to contact them on 101.

The robbery gang was last seen driving down Chester Road, towards Stonebridge Island, with officers now believing the car’s registration – MF67 GXD – may have been changed.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses after a Volkswagen Golf was stolen by force at Melbicks Garden Centre at 12.45pm on Monday, October 29.

“The owner was forced to the ground and she threw her keys to one of the offenders, who then made off in the vehicle along the dual carriageway towards Stonebridge Island.

“The vehicle has the registration MF67 GXD but it is likely to be now on different plates. The car is a VW Golf GTI in white and is a five-door hatchback.

“Did you see the vehicle driving erratically? Do you have dashcam footage?

“Those with information can contact us on 101, quoting WK-20181029-0183.”

Melbicks Garden Centre is helping Warwickshire Police with their investigation and the site was unaffected by this incident.
