Join Hobs Moat Literary Litter Pickers and help rid the neighbourhood of rubbish

A new community led litter picking group will be running from Hobs Moat library and meeting monthly from Tuesday 20th September.

The group is open to anyone who wants to help make their area tidier – it will meet between 10:30am and 11:30am for their first session.

After the group has been out tackling the trash, they will be treated to tea and coffee back at Hobs Moat library.

This new group is the second Literary Litter picking group to start up and follows the success of Olton’s Literary Litter Pickers which started meeting in May based at Olton library.

The Literary Litter Pickers was set up by a group of Olton residents after they became concerned about litter in their area. With support from councillors, Solihull Council’s Love Solihull programme, and local businesses including McDonalds and Toolman, the group have set about tackling the litter.

Literary Litter Pickers Founder, Chris Dunster and fellow Solihull residents have also set up ‘Talking Rubbish!’ – a group which aims to reduce litter in Olton and Solihull through community action and education.

Councillor Tony Dicicco, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities and Partnerships, said: “The Council is thrilled that another Literary Litter Pickers group is starting with the support of local libraries and residents.

“It’s a great way for people to help look after their neighbourhoods and I would encourage anyone who can to get involved!”

If residents are interested in setting up their own litter picking group, or would like to join the Literary Litter Pickers, call 0121 704 6673 or email lovesolihull@solihull.gov.uk
