Search is on for ex-scouts to celebrate 40th birthday

The 3rd Olton Scout Group has launched a search to find former members to share their memories and help celebrate the group’s 40th birthday.

Founded on 28th March 1974 to meet a growing demand for places in Olton, the group is now looking to mark the special anniversary by finding out what scouting was like in the earlier days.

Group Scout Leader, Stuart Moseley said: “We are delighted to be celebrating 40 years of scouting and invite anyone who has been a cub or scout down the years to get in touch and to share your memories of being part of 3rd Olton.

“In recent years, the group has experienced resurgence in interest, both in terms of young people, leaders and help from parents, which is really encouraging. We are going from strength to strength and looking forward to celebrating our birthday.”

The celebrations will culminate in 2015 with a whole group camp – the first to involve scouts, cubs and beavers joining together.

Group leaders are keen for the current generation of cubs and scouts to hear about the experiences and memories of former members. The group is also on the lookout for any photographs of members from the past.

The 3rd Olton Cubs and Beavers meet on Monday evenings between 5.30pm and 8.00pm in St. Margaret’s Church Hall, Olton.

The Scouts meet on Fridays, 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Olton Friary.

If you were a cub or scout with 3rd Olton and would like to get in touch, you can email moseley@supman.f9.co.uk
