Volunteers help create new path in Shirley Park

The Love Solihull team said they were blown away by the positive community spirit shown last week when a large group of young people from ‘The Challenge’ joined forces with Friends of Shirley Park (FoSP) to create a new path within Shirley Park.

A spokesperson said: “Love Solihull have been working with young people who were completing their National Citizen Service (NCS) via The Challenge. These young volunteers were involved in a number of projects and events during their community week. Two teams, Emeke and Reiss, joined forces with FoSP to tackle a large project to create a new path in Shirley Park.

“The new path is located behind the Rose Garden area. This mammoth task was undertaken to improve the area for the community, because this part of the park is often very muddy during the winter season. It should ensure that park users can walk along this stretch without the need of wellies!

“The project was supported by Glendale Countryside Ltd. who provided free wood chippings for the volunteers to use. Friends of Shirley Park, Teams Emeke/Reiss and Love Solihull hope the community enjoy their new path!”
