Jaguar Land Rover engines heist: three men arrested after £3m raid

Detectives investigating a £3 million engines heist at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull factory have arrested three men.

A gang used a stolen lorry to carry out the raid at the Lode Lane depot 13 days ago – which saw them in and out within minutes.

West Midlands Police detectives are looking at CCTV as part of their inquiry into the ‘film-style heist’ which was identical to a £1 million engine theft three yeas ago.

A spokesman for the force has now confirmed arrests have been made.

A statement said: “Three men, aged 47, 40 and 29 were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

“The investigation is on-going.”

The gang had struck shortly after 10.30pm on Tuesday 31st January by brazenly driving through manned security gates in a stolen lorry.

Incredibly, the HGV hooked up and left with a trailer full of engines in just six minutes, despite the site being covered by CCTV.

Jaguar Land Rover has posted a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gang who, sources claim, had shown paperwork at security gates to get in and out of the factory.

The Solihull plant was subject of an identical raid three years ago, when almost £1 million of engines were stolen.

Like the latest heist, the gang had also used a stolen lorry and returned to the factory to steal a second trailer.

That HGV was also found abandoned in Coventry.

A number of men were later arrested and convicted for the earlier raid, which was never made public.
