5 people arrested following ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest near Birmingham Airport

Five people have been arrested following a ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest on the A45 Coventry Road near Birmingham Airport.

A spokesperson for WMP said “Police were called at around 7am this morning (Friday 5th August) following reports of a group of people in the carriageway of the A45 in Solihull.

“Officers are currently at the scene, motorists are advised to avoid the area at this time.

“Nobody is believed to be injured.”

The A45 Coventry Road was reopened at around 9am after five protesters were arrested at the scene.

West Midlands Police said: “The A45 in Solihull has now been cleared.

“Five people have been arrested for obstructing the highway and will spoken to in due course.

“Thank you for your patience.”
