Armed police swoop on Earlswood Common after fisherman ‘threatened in terrifying knifepoint robbery’ at lake

Armed police swooped on Earlswood Common after a fisherman was reportedly threatened in a terrifying knifepoint robbery by the lake.

The victim, in his 50s, was at Earlswood Lakes where he was threatened by a man with “two bladed weapons” who then demanded money.

Police said the man made off with “a small amount of money” before heading in the direction of Wood Lane.

Armed police as well as local officers were sent to the scene of the drama.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses after the horrifying incident on Monday 2nd October at around 9.27am.

Police described the suspect as white, in his early 20s, with short blond hair, wearing jeans and a green parka coat.

Detective Constable Thomas Quinlan from Warwickshire Police said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim and it is fortunate that they were not injured.

“I understand that the local community will be concerned and I would like to reassure them that a thorough investigation is underway.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to come forward as soon as possible.”
