Arrest made after elderly man sustains head injury in Solihull

An elderly man was taken to hospital after he sustained an injury to his head in Solihull town centre.

Police sealed off a bus parked on Poplar Road, around 6pm, on Thursday (10th April).

West Midlands Ambulance said they had taken an elderly man to hospital after he sustained an injury to his head.

An ambulance spokeswoman said: “We were called just before 6pm. One ambulance attended and we treated an elderly man who suffered a cut to his head and he was taken to Heartlands Hospital for further treatment.”

Statement from a West Midlands Police spokesperson: “Police were called to Poplar Road, Solihull, following a reported altercation by the bus stop at around 5.30pm last night (Thursday).

“A 70-year-old man has been taken to hospital with a head injury.

“A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

“Anyone with information is asked to call DC Adam Buzzard at Solihull Police on 101; quoting crime reference number 20SH/103701F/18.”
