Brookvale Care Home in Olton to be demolished

Solihull Council is to demolish Brookvale Care Home in Olton so the site can be sold to generate investment for a brand new care home to serve the south of the borough.

The demolition work at 111 Warwick Road will be carried out by City Demolition and is due to start on Monday 5th September.

It will take around 15 weeks to complete.

While demolition takes place, temporary heras fencing will be erected to protect pedestrians.

The decision was made by Solihull Council to close Brookvale, which housed elderly people, in February this year.

A spokesperson for SMBC said: “The existing building meant that even with expensive refurbishment it would have been extremely difficult to meet modern standards residents expect.

“Through the sale of the Brookvale site, the Council will be able to make a significant investment in a brand new building elsewhere in the south of the borough, which is better suited to providing care for those with advanced dementia.

“The Council will publish information on the future use of the existing land and on the creation of a new care home as it becomes available. It is hoped that the new home would be opened in 2019.”
