Cyclist killed in Solihull collision

A cyclist tragically killed in a collision in Eastcote Lane, Solihull on Saturday 22 December, has been named as Anthony Satterthwaite.

It is believed the 51-year-old man was struck by a Porsche Boxster travelling in the opposite direction, just before 12pm.

Sadly, the 51-year-old cyclist, who was treated for his injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 52-year-old driver who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released pending further investigation.

Anthony’s family has paid tribute to him and described him as: “A much-loved Solihull father of two, and a very experienced cyclist.”

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is an extremely tragic incident for all involved.  The family are receiving support from family liaison officers and our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.

“It is important that we piece together the events that led to the collision and I would appeal directly to anyone who saw what happened and has not yet contacted us, or may have caught the collision on a dash-cam to get in touch.”
