French exchange students meet Solihull Mayor

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Mike Robinson, recently welcomed French students from Solihull’s twin town Cholet.

The students were given the opportunity to speak to the Mayor and received a personal tour of the Council’s Civic Suite, where they learnt about the town’s history, Mayoral duties and the workings of local authorities.

During their stay the group visited local attractions including Cadburys World, Warwick Castle and the Black Country Museum.

The Students, aged 16 – 19, were visiting the borough as part of an exchange programme run by Solihull Sixth Form College, which in January saw Solihull students visit France.

The Mayor said, “I was very pleased to meet the students from Cholet they all seemed very interested in the mayoral roles of this country compared to those in their own.

“It was a great afternoon perfect for sharing some of Solihull’s historical moments with a group of very nice young people.”

Before the students left the Mayor was presented with a hand embroidered towel, embroidered by students at a sister college in Cholet.
