Habitat to open at Sainsbury’s Marshall Lake store – and Argos comes to Dorridge

Sainsbury’s is set to open a new Habitat and Argos in two of its Solihull stores.

The retailer is opening a mini Habitat at its Marshall Lake supermarket in Shirley and an Argos at its store in Dorridge – creating around 25 jobs.

The new 1,200 sq ft Habitat store will open at the beginning of December and brings extra choice and convenience to customers. It is one of five mini Habitats set to open in Sainsbury’s stores around the country by early 2017.

Over 650 Habitat products will be available in store at the Marshall Lake branch – all designed by the brands London based design studio – across furniture, upholstery, lighting, homewares and textiles at a range of price points.

Customers are also able to order from Habitat’s full 4,500 product portfolio on its website in-store, using integrated digital screens and iPads.

Meanwhile, work is also starting at Sainsbury’s Dorridge on the new Argos store which is due to open in January.

It will offer thousands of popular products for immediate pickup. 20,000 products can also be ordered to collect in store within hours and 20,000 extra products can be ordered for home delivery.

There will also be an eBay collection point so buyers can either collect their eBay purchases or arrange for Argos to deliver them.

The move comes after Sainsbury’s acquired Home Retail Group, which owns Habitat and Argos and is part of its strategy to help its customers shop whenever and wherever they want.

The combination of Sainsbury’s, Habitat and Argos will enable customers to shop conveniently through different online, mobile and store channels.

Stefan Kerwan, Retail Operations Manager at Sainsbury’s said: “Sainsbury’s has been a part of the local community for a number of years and we are really thrilled to welcome Habitat and Argos to our stores.

“They are great news for customers, who are looking for easier, more convenient ways to shop.

“We’re looking forward to offering them an increased range of products at great value.”
