Jaguar Land Rover stolen engines recovered in dawn raids

Engines stolen from Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull plant have been recovered in dawn raids in Sutton Coldfield and Warwickshire today (13th February).

Following investigations, officers swooped on locations in Kingsbury Road, Minworth, and Bermuda Industrial Park in Nuneaton and discovered the stolen machines.

An investigation was launched after an articulated truck entered the Land Rover site in Solihull on 31st January. The truck entered the site twice, each time hooking up to trailers where the engines were stored.

Since the theft detectives have now arrested four men aged 29, 40, 47 and 56 on suspicion of conspiracy to steal. All four have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The engines have been seized and will be forensically examined by specialist officers.

Now officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the theft or saw anything suspicious at the Minworth or Nuneaton sites in the last few weeks to come forward.

Detective Inspector Darren Lee, from Solihull’s Investigation Team, said: “This has been a fast-paced inquiry and after searching two locations today we have seized what we believe are the stolen engines.

“This is a significant find and we continue to investigate the theft.

“If anyone has any information they are urged to call me or one of the team on 101. Alternatively people can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
