Man charged with 2016 murder of Giovanni Lewis

A man has been charged with the murder of Giovanni Lewis, who died from multiple stab wounds to his chest on the 18th October 2016.

Giovanni (pictured) is believed to have been attacked in Kingshurst before presenting himself at Heartlands A&E where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Jammal Chase, aged 21, of no fixed address, has been sought after by WMP for over a year in connection with the murder of Mr Lewis and handed himself into a local police station last night.

He will appear before Birmingham magistrates Court tomorrow morning (26 March) charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of an offensive weapon.

Giovanni’s family have been informed of the latest developments and continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Police continue to investigate and are urging anyone with information to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Paul Joyce from the Homicide Team, said: “I would appeal to anyone who holds any information on the whereabouts of where Jammal has been for the last 18 months to make contact with myself or the team on 101.”
