Mell Square wraps up 2017 with charity fundraiser

Solihull-based shopping centre, Mell Square has helped raise over £700 for local charities – British Heart Foundation, St Basils, Solihull Hospital Charity and Solihull Young Carers – as part of a Christmas gift-wrapping service last year, which took place in a retail unit on the High Street.

Every Saturday in December, volunteers of the individual charities took it in turns to host the gift-wrapping pop-up store, complete with festive paper, Christmas music and hot drinks and mince pies courtesy of Café Isabella – all in return for a charitable donation.

With spirits high and Christmas cheer aplenty, the charities were flooded with shoppers eager to have their presents wrapped, all whilst donating to worthy local causes.

Rob Hemus, Asset Manager at IM Properties, owners of Mell Square, said: “This is our first time holding an event like this and we are overwhelmed by the support and generous donations made by the local community.

“All the charities have worked hard, and we are so thankful for them giving up their time, especially at such a busy time of the year.

“Mell Square had a fantastic 2017 and the Christmas gift-wrapping was the perfect way to conclude the year. We look forward to working with the local charities again in the future.”
