Police appeal following serious Sheldon collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Sheldon just after 9.30pm last night (Friday 4 January).

A 19-year-old cyclist was hit by a white VW Transporter Van as he travelled along The Radleys.

He was taken to hospital and is currently in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene and is assisting with police enquires.

Sergeant Alan Wood from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are currently in the process of piecing together exactly what happened in the run up to the collision.

“We particularly want to speak to a man who appeared to be running alongside and in company with the cyclist along Elmstead Avenue shortly before the collision occurred. I ask you to make yourself known to us as you may hold important information about how this collision occurred.

“We urge anyone else who witnessed the collision or has information and hasn’t already spoken to us to get in touch as soon as possible.
