Police appeal for witnesses after man dies in Kingshurst stabbing

West Midlands Police is appealing for information after a 20-year-old man suffered a fatal stab wound following a row at a flat in Kingshurst.

It’s understood a dispute erupted at the property in Hopwas Grove on Sunday that resulted in local man Callum Lees (pictured) being stabbed in the neck.

He was later found by a passer-by collapsed in Haselour Road and pronounced dead later in hospital; a post mortem is due to take place later today.

Callum’s family have described him as “a beautiful, caring, kind soul who was much loved”.

A statement released on behalf of the family added: “Everyone who knew him only had good words to say.

“Our world has been shattered and will never be the same again. We love you Callum.”

Murder detectives have arrested a 21-year-old Solihull man on suspicion of assisting an offender.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Jim Munro believes there were several other people at the flat at the time of the disturbance – and has urged them to come forward.

He added: “We suspect the victim knew his attacker and efforts are well underway to find the person responsible.

“Our enquiries suggest that a group of people were drinking in the flat at the time…they need to call me immediately so we can understand exactly what happened and eliminate them from our enquiries.

“A young man has lost his life in awful circumstances and been left to die in the street.

“These key witnesses, or indeed anyone who has information about the murder, can call me at West Midlands Police on the 101 number or via the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
