Quiz and curry night raises £2,780 for Prostate Cancer UK

On Thursday 27th April, a charity quiz and curry night in aid of Prostate Cancer UK was held at Panchuli on Solihull High Street.

Over 70 people attended the restaurant for a quiz of seven rounds including music, sport, name the year and a 4 course Indian meal.

Julian Knight MP donated a bottle of House of Commons Merlot which had been signed by Prime Minister Theresa May – this raised £170 at auction.

There were three raffle prizes of 2 VIP tickets to see Take That at the Genting Arena, a hydrafacial at Air Aesthetics in Henley-in-Arden and a meal for two at The Boot in Lapworth.

Samantha Wild, one of the event organisers, said: “A friend, Sue Botterill, and I have organised a series of events to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK after my Dad was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer last year.

“We have had a ladies lunch and menopause talk, a barista evening at Costa Coffee, a fitness morning at Hampton Manor, afternoon tea at Hampton Manor and a prostate testing event at BUPA Wellness Centre, where I work – and the quiz and curry night last Thursday was our 6th event.

“Connollys Wine Merchants provided prosecco on arrival and Spencers of Bromsgrove provided beer.

“Our main raffle prize was 2 VIP tickets to see Take That at the Genting Arena donated by Amplify events.

“The winning team of four won a cookery lesson at the restaurant with the owner Maz Rahman.

“The staff from Panchuli also donated £100.

“We raised £2,780 on the night which takes our total so far to over £7,100.”
