Singing success for Valley Primary School Choir

Pupils from Valley Primary School have scooped a fantastic £1,000 reward towards a project of their choice after being crowned champions of the Touchwood school choir competition 2017.

Throughout December, 20 local schools from across the borough took centre stage in the shopping centre’s annual contest in a bid to win the popular title and spread some festive cheer amongst guests.

Amongst strong competition, the singing superstars from Valley Primary School came away victorious with the prestigious title of ‘Touchwood School Choir Competition Winners 2017’, after receiving the most votes.

The choir were chosen as the overall winners after guests were blown away by their seasonal renditions of festive favourites including, ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ and ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’ – which helped to inject some Christmas spirit into shoppers.

Jon Hilditch, music coordinator and year five class teacher at Valley Primary School, said: “We are so pleased to have won Touchwood’s infamous Christmas choir competition and the pupils are absolutely delighted.

“We worked very hard on the day to provide guests the best possible performance, and have decided that the money will go towards enhancing the music curriculum as well as musical instruments.”

Mrs Narroway, headteacher at Valley Primary School, comments: “I’m absolutely thrilled that the pupils from Valley were the winners of Touchwood’s Christmas choir competition.

“It was well deserved for their wonderful singing and a big thank you to our parents for all their support.”
