Solihull Mayor presents cheques to local charities from ‘Fun in the Park’ fundraiser

Following the fundraising efforts of ‘Fun in the Park’ held in Tudor Grange Park last September, the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Mike Robinson, presented cheques to Solihull Young Carers, Fast Aid (community first responders) and Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid – all of which are locally based charities.

This marks the success of Fun in the Park, which each year raises money for three charities and is organised by members of Soroptomist International Solihull and District Club.

An incredible £3,350 was raised for each charity, with the total amount raised in excess of £10,000.

This year Solihull Soroptomists were supported by St Alphege Rotary Club members, which enabled the event to offer even more activities.

Fun in the Park included a variety of attractions for all of the family, including an arena showcasing local stage schools, children’s go karting, a companion dog show and agility course, cycling races, a classic car show, children’s rides, have a go at tennis sessions and HMS Forward, as well as a selection of food outlets.

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Mike Robinson, was thrilled to present the cheques and said: “Fun in the Park was a brilliant success and from what I saw everyone who attended had a great time.

“It’s wonderful to see people not only enjoying themselves but also giving their support to such worthy causes.

“I would like to congratulate the Soroptomists for their hard work in organising this fantastic day and of course the members of the St. Alphege Rotary Club who helped to pull it all together.

“I’ve no doubt people are already looking forward to next year’s Fun in the Park!”
