Tap and Tandoor set to open in Solihull

The newest addition to Solihull’s growing food and drink scene has announced it is to open on Thursday 14th June.

Tap and Tandoor, formerly the Saddler’s Arms on Warwick Road, has been given a new lease of life thanks to the owners of Indian Street Food restaurant Zindiya in Moseley, which opened last year to much acclaim.

The ‘Indian Gastro Pub’, which has undergone a significant investment and transformation, will be Solihull’s new home of sport with multiple TV screens showing all of the summer’s sporting action alongside craft beers and Indian food favourites – such as hearty mixed grills, home-style curries and some of the street-food dishes that have made Zindiya such a success.

Local company 2G Interiors has carried out the design and build works renovation which includes a new cellar to make sure the beer is kept as perfect as possible.

Alongside the craft beer and food offering, Tap and Tandoor will be converting the upstairs living accommodation into 4 private areas where sports fans can watch games with their friends, complete with table service and even order their food for half time throughout all of the big games.

There are even plans later in the summer to convert the roof of the pub into an outside drinks terrace.

Owner Ajay Kenth, whose family now live and entertain in Solihull had this to say regarding the opening: “The rise of Desi style pubs in the region has been phenomenal but the trend hasn’t quite got as far as Solihull yet, with them mainly being concentrated over towards the West side of the Midlands.

“We realised that there was nowhere in Solihull we could go out for a great, casual meal, a wide range of quality beers and a relaxed atmosphere. We have called Tap & Tandoor an ‘Indian gastro pub’ as we believe in delivering the best quality food, drink and experience.

“Hopefully the drinkers and diners of Solihull will realise that we have tried to introduce something that is currently lacking. It’s a big investment but our belief in quality is something we know is shared by many of the locals to Solihull and the surrounding areas”

Tap and Tandoor is Solihull town centre’s only independent pub and it is something that the team are keen to emphasise with local beers, produce and suppliers being used across the board.

Ajay added: “Solihull sits in the middle of the country and has suppliers for everything within 30 minutes, we really want to find those artisanal small producers and make sure we are buying the best, local goods that we can to help keep money in the local area.”

Tap and Tandoor will be open Sunday to Thursday 12pm – 11pm and Friday & Saturday 12pm – 12pm (closed Mondays).
